7/16/2012 - Round table on “Cinema and system in Italy: the Made in Italy”
Round table on “Cinema and system in Italy: the Made in Italy”: it has taken place today, the closing day of the festival at “Casa Taormina”. The meeting has been hosted by Mario Sesti, Director of the festival. Paolo Del Brocco, Managing Director of Rai Cinema said: “The consumption of cinema has always been anti – cyclical. I am optimistic, a little bit against the tide, thanks to the experience of Rai Cinema. Today I see a lot of cohesion among the various departments of the field and this fact makes me be hopeful for the future. This year we will have some art films by Marco Bellocchio, Matteo Garrone and Poalo Virzì, to name just a few examples. They search a closer contact with the audience, the quality of the film being always high. We are organizing an event about the “Made in Italy” in Hong Kong which will take place at the end of September and which will be in partnership with the Municipality of Rome. What about the cinematic commercials on TV? I believe they should be removed for the system’s sake. Last but not the least, let’s take into consideration the fact that more than a half of the Italian population never goes to the cinema, not even once a year”.
