Taormina FilmFest in Cannes

The journalists Eric Mika of the Hollywood Reporter and Dan Fainaru for the Taormina Film Fest will chair the debate. Artistic directors of the most important cinema festivals will take part and the discussion will continue at a conference during the Taormina Arte Festival. News has also come from Cannes about two other important participants in Taormina. From the Riviera, the Union of Cinema Journalists has, in fact, revealed that the Nastri d’Argento of Europe awards have gone to Sergio Castellitto and to the German actress Martina Gedeck, protagonist of the Oscar winning film “Le vite degli altri” and very recently the screening of Robert De Niro’s latest film “The Good Shepherd”. The prizes will be awarded during the ceremony on the 23 June at the Greek Theatre. Giuseppe Tornatore, the Sicilian director and guest of honour last month in Paris of the first edition of the Italian Cinema, candidate of the Nastri d’Argento prize for “La Sconosciuta”, will also be present at the festival in Taormina. The festival is dedicating its opening ceremony to Tornatore as well as a photographic exhibition and a retrospective, already requested by other international festivals and which, in autumn, will be on show in America.
