:: PLOT

Once back in Italy, after being on the run as a fugitive in South America, Giorgio, a repentant terrorist, is ready for anything provided he can be socially rehabilitated. So to begin a new life and free himself of the shadows of his past, he sells his old-time comrades and gets a reduction on his sentence. Once out of jail, he chases an absurd ascent towards respectability, blackmailing, exploiting women, and acting out all type of crimes, under the intimidation of a special police officer, Anedda, who threatens to use the proofs of his guilt. : BIOGRAPHY

MICHELE SOAVI

Born in Milan in 1957, before making his directing debut, he collaborated with Lamberto Bava as 1st AD, and with Dario Argento as an actor, and then as 2nd and 1st AD. Through his collaboration with Argento came the documentary Dario Argento’s World of Horror (1985). His first feature film, Deliria (winner of the “Fear Section” of the 1987 Film Festival of Avoriaz, France) brought him to the attention of the audience and the critics, even abroad. The following year he directed the 2nd Unit of Terry Gilliam’s The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Eventually, he shot La chiesa (1989) and La setta (1991), box-office successes. Then, leaving behind the horror genre, he directed Dellamorte Dellamore (1994), based upon the homonymous novel by Tiziano Sclavi, the comic-strip artist of Dylan Dog. He was also an actor of many films, among which his own. Between 1995 and 1998, Soavi directed several commercials, and eventually shot many TV-movies that were greatly successful: Ultimo 2 – la sfida (1999), Uno Bianca (2000), Il testimone (2001), San Francesco (2002), Ultima pallottola (2003), Ultimo 3 – L’infiltrato, till the most recent Attacco allo Stato (2006). Arrivederci amore, ciao marks an important return to feature directing.
