THE GAME OF THEIR LIVES
Date: 13/06/2005
|
|
Plot:
In the spring of 1950, the
United States was extended an invitation
to compete in the World Cup in
Brazil. Faced with budgetary restrictions
and no official soccer team to
call their own, the U.S. set out to recruit
players in the soccer hotbed of
St. Louis, Missouri, where they found
a group of young friends. Once these
men reached others in NY, they were
all forced to see past one another’s
differences and become a full-
fledged team. With the odds considerably
against them, the U.S. team
arrived in Rio with little training and
even less fanfare. After a crushing
defeat, the Americans expected
more of the same but then something
remarkable happened: they scored a
victory against England that did more
than just provide an upset defeat – it
opened the door for soccer in the
United States. The American World
Cup team of 1950 would soon quietly
return to their families and jobs,
treasuring this historic victory, which
would forever be known to them as
The Game of Their Lives.

TI PIACE HITCHCOCK?
Date: 14/06/2005
|
|
Plot:
Two pretty women in their thirties
– Sasha and Federica – attract
the attention of Giulio, a 23 years old
movie freak, while they’re renting a
Hitchcock film, Stranger on a Train.
Sasha, who lives across Giulio’s
apartment, becomes the morbid object
of his curiosity. One night a
choked scream pierces the darkness:
Sasha’s mother was killed.
Hitchcock’s movie captures Giulio’s
imagination, so he tells his perplexed
girlfriend that a sinister arrangement
– a murder for a murder – has been
set up between Sasha and Federica.
It’s obvious that the latter has killed
Sasha’s mother allowing her friend to
inherit big money. If so, who will be
the next victim? Giulio is curious and
starts spying on Federica and the
dark side of her life. Unluckily the
spying ends in a bad fall that froces
him at home with his leg in a plaster.
Now Giulio realizes to have risked too
much, but possibly it’s too late, he
could be the next victim...

SERGIO AMIDEI. RITRATTO DI UNO SCRITTORE DI CINEMA
Date: 15/06/2005
|
|
Plot:
"Who is Sergio Amidei? This is a
question that many wouldn’t know
how to answer. And this is one of the
reasons, not the only but perhaps the
most pressing, that convinced us to
make a portray-film on this forgotten
writer. Amidei was the prolific writer
of the stories and screenplays of
some of the most beautiful films in the
history of Italian cinema, from Open
City , to Paisan , to Shoeshine, to
Three Girls from Rome, just to mention
a few. He earned 4 Oscar nominations,
(…) and was a volcanic personality
that added significant
innovations to screenwriting, to the
point that today we can speak of a
true Amidei Method…". Ettore and
Silvia Scola .
