:: PLOT

Angela comes from an honest family of workers from Ballar˛ (the market district of Palermo, Sicily) but is terribly attracted to luxury, big motorcycles, and a taste for risk. At 20, she marries Saro. Out for easy money, the two start selling drugs and Angela family ends up turning against her. When Angela meets Masino, at first she thinks he’s a cop but once he becomes his husbands right hand, the two are irresistibly driven into a tormented love story. But in their world, laws are written by men who often are forced to give up their feelings.

:: BIOGRAHY

She was born in Milan, 1962. Since 1992 she lives and works in Palermo, Sicily. She made many short film thatwon a number of awards; among these: Tempo da buttare (1991), Il teatro Ŕ una bestia nera (1993), Angelesse (1994), Senti amor mio? (1994), Le anime corte (1994), Il cielo sotto Palermo (1995), Spioni (1995), Verginella (1995) and La vita a volo d’Angelo (1996, Venice Film Festival). In 1997 she directed her first feature film, Tano da morire, a musical on mafia that won the Luigi De Laurentiis Award for the Best Debut Film at the Venice Film Festival of the same year (Settimana della Critica). Her second film, Sud Side Stori (2000), is the controversial love story between a boy from Palermo and a Nigerian prostitute, a take-off of the Romeo myth. Her third film, Angela, is also the winner of many awards and recognitions.
