Artistic manager
of BNL FilmFest
Felice
Laudadio has got a long experience as a journalist, cultural agent,
publisher, writer, screen-play editor and film producer. After the
gymnasial exam, he graduated in political science at Bari University
and achieved an international master in Public Relationship at the
ISIRP in Rome with full marks (110/110 cum laude)
Publicist
journalist since 1969 and professional journalist since 1977, from
1966 to '73 he worked with many publishing houses (among them Laterza,
Dedalo, Mazzotta, Abitare) from 1974 to '83 he was, first in Milan
then in Rome, cultural correspondent, head of the entertainments
division, cinema, television and theatre critic for the newspaper
"Unità"; from 1975 to '85 he was a contributor
of "Rinascita". He edited the magazines "Classe"
and "Script" and edits the series "Materiali sul
cinema europeo" (Edizioni EuropaCinema).
Since
1979 he began an intense activity as author of film festivals such
as the Mystfest (managed by him from 1979 to '86), the screenplay
Prize Solinas (1985 -'93), the Italian Cinema Weeks in Latin America
(1983 - '89), the Italian section of the Palm Springs International
Film Festival in California (1990-'96), for its importance the second
American festival; the international Forum of Italian Cinema (since
1990 up to today).
In
1983 he was appointed member of the Comitato di Esperti at the Mostra
del Cinema di Venezia, managed by Gian Luigi Rondi.
Since
1984 he manages EuropaCinema- Festival of the European cinema that
he founded in Rimini together with Federico Fellini, in 1989 the
festival moved to Viareggio where next edition will take place from
the 20th to the 27th of September.
From
1990 to 2001 he managed the cinema festival of Saint-Vincent (Prize
Grolle d'oro).
In
1992 he wrote and directed the film "Il lungo silenzio"
(it was awarded with three prizes at Montréal Festival in
1993 and three Globi d'Oro given by the foreign press, among which
the prize for the best screenplay) and in 1993, together with Peter
Schneider and Margarethe von Trotta he wrote the screenplay of the
film Das Versprechen (the promise), German candidate to the Oscar
Prize in 1995, both the films were directed by Mrs von Trotta.
In
January 1994 he was appointed councillor and managing director of
the Istituto Luce S.p.A., he co-produced a dozen films directed,
among the others by Ettore Scola, Michele Placido, Enzo Monteleone,
Luigi Magni, Peter Del Monte, Alessandro D'Alatri, Giacomo Campiotti,
Sergio Citti, Marco Bellocchio and Theo Angelopoulos.
In
1995 -'96 he co-produced the film "Al di là delle Nuvole"
directed by Michelangelo Antonioni together with Wim Wenders.
During
the two years 1997 -'98 he managed the Mostra Internazionale d'Arte
Cinematografica of the Biennale di Venezia.
Since
1999 he is the manager of the International Taormina Film Festival
(TaorminaFilmFest) whose next edition will take place from the 7th
to the 14th of June 2003.
He
wrote the book "Fare Festival" (1993, second edition 1996).
He is a member of the European Film Academy of Berlin, founded and
managed by Ingmar Bergman and Wim Wenders.
In
2000 he was a Mediatrade consultant (Gruppo Mediaset) for the Italian
and European cinema production.
He
was operative vice-president of the Foundation Federico Fellini
in Rimini, whose honorary president is Woody Allen and president
Ettore Scola.
Since
1999 to the end of 2003 he was the chairman of the Board of Cinecittà
Holding S.p.A. He founded the cinema culture and economy quarterly
magazine "Cinecittà", that he edited for the first
ten issues.
In
2001, for Cinecittà Holding, he planned and produced the
film "Sei come sei" (formerly "Lo sguardo digitale")
choosen by the Berlin festival 2003 and awarded at Montreal festival
2003.
In
June 2003 he was appointed artistic manager of Venice Carnival for
the two years 2003 -'04 and manager of the Venice International
TV Festival, arranged for November 2003.
Since
December 2003 Felice Laudadio manages the Prize Federico Fellini
for the Italian Cinema founded by him.
