The odyssey of an Albanian father on the path of his son who has emigrated to
Italy. Albania, post-communism. Niko is an unemployed professor desperately seeking
for an honest job. He resists to the temptation of being involved in illegal matters
that an old-time friend – now a wellknown delinquent – offers him.
He and his family live on the money that his son, Mikel, sends them from Italy.
But Niko hasn’t had news from Mikel for a while now and his last letter
was blown away with the wind. This and a premonition dream torment Niko. What
happened to Mikel? What has become of him? Why does everyone in Albania fear him?
Niko has no other choice than to leave for Italy.
An actor and director, he has always had an important role in the artistic, political
and social life of Albania. He staged the most controversial theatrical plays
and was vice-director of the Academy for Dramatic Arts in Tatiana, representing
a highlight in the student’s rebellion to the communist regime. As an actor,
he worked in 25 episodes of Italy’s most famous soapopera, Un posto
al sole. Today he lives in Bassano del Grappa, northern Italy, and works
as an employee assembling hydric turbines.
