:: SHORT FILM AWARDS
The members of the jury panel, Abbas Kiarostami (chairman), the American director Todd Solondz (deputy-chairman), the Italian director Francesco Calogero, the British producer Norma Heyman, the American critic Emanuel Levy, the Norwegian actress Gorild Mauseth, the Italian critic Curzio Maltese, the actress and director of short-films Antonella Ponziani, and the French critic Jean Roy, confer awards and honourable mentions to:
INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM
Bnl International Short Film Award (endowed with 10,330.00 Euro) to:
LA GOTERA by Benjamin Avila (Argentina)
Reason: La Gotera is set at a very special moment, that is a few minutes before the end of the year 2000, and it narrates with an intense style, simple and astonishing at the same time, the story of an old and lonely woman, who while remembering the past events of her life, gets ready for a future full of challenges.
Worthy of mention: FATA MORGANA by Alexandre Franchi (Canada)
I CORTI SICILIANI
Bnl I Corti Siciliani Award (endowed with 10,330.00 Euro) to:
I FORMALISTI SICILIANI NEL CINEMA by Marco Alessi
Reason: In his film, Marco Alessi narrates, in an original way, the ups and downs of a group of filmmakers in search for the “right” and “well-chosen” subject for their short-film, and he makes use of shrewd humour and self-irony.
Worthy of mention: A DOMANI by Angelo Campolo
The projections of the awarded short-films will open the closing night of the Taormina BNL Film Festival, at 21:00 in the beautiful setting of the Ancient Theatre. The awards are going to be presented by Davide Cefis, Direttore Comunicazione BNL.
The conferred prizes can only be used in order to produce a new work to be presented at the following edition of the Taormina BNL FilmFest.
