::: Paul Morrissey the Trilogy :::
Paul Morrissey is
one of the most eclectic and extraordinary independent directors
in Hollywood. His Trilogy will be presented at the Taormina BNL
Film Fest with his films which are among the most interesting and
innovative, Flesh,
Trash, and Heat
all featuring Joe Dallesandro. Paul Morrissey is one of the most
innovative and provocative filmmakers of the last forty years.
At the core of Morrissey's films, there is the mass existence and
prosaic American world, forgetful of the insubstantial rhetoric
of the American dream, and described without any explicit moralistic
comment, either positive or negative. In fact, his provocative intent
arises from a reality fully exposed and the consequent comparison
is absolutely shattering. Drug addicts, fetish artists, lesbian
wives, transvestites, prostitutes fill Morrissey's extravagant universe.
His original style is crude but unrivalled, and it is part of that
hyper-realist tendency which characterised the best USA cinema of
the 1970s.
