From the 7th to the 13th of July 2002,
during the Taormina BNL FilmFest, there will take place the
first short-films competition for authors coming from all
over the world and the short-films competition for Sicilian
film-makers only, organised with the co-operation of the Assessorato
dei Beni Culturali e Ambientali e della Pubblica Istruzione
of Regione Siciliana. The selection has been attended
by the Filmoteca Regionale Siciliana (Sicilian Film
and Video Archive) and particularly by its director, Alessandro
Rais, and by the critic Anna Di Martino. Organisation by the
Cultural Association “Visionaria” from Palermo.

The first section (7th – 9th July),
awarding the BNL
– International Short Film Award, hosts 22 short-films,chosen
amongst those submitted from all over the world. The second
section (10th – 12th July) will be awarded
the BNL
– I Corti Siciliani Prize for the best short-film chosen
amongst the selected final 12 ones, presented by authors either
born or living in Sicily. Prestigious personalities are the
members of the jury panel, the American director Todd Solondz,
Francesco Calogero, Norma Heyman, Emanuel Levy, Gorild Mauseth,
Curzio Maltese, Antonella Ponziani and Jean Roy. The chairman
of the jury will be the great Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami.
Guests, events,
meetings and previews will alternate with the short-films
screenings.
The prizes will be awarded on 13th July in the
superb setting of the Ancient Theatre.
