The Hole è un thriller psicologico che racconta la storia di quattro studenti inglesi in cerca di avventure. Quando scoprono una buca abbandonata che sembra essere l'antico nascondiglio di una bomba, decidono di organizzare un party. Due ragazze, due ragazzi, in una buca per tre giorni. "Cosa può esserci di meglio?", pensano. Ma quando restano intrappolati nella buca per sedici giorni, la loro festa si trasforma in un'orribile esperienza: devono lottare per sopravvivere, senza cibo né acqua e improvvisamente capiscono che potrebbero non uscire vivi da questa avventura.

The Hole is a psychological thriller about four British private schoolers, out for adventure. When they discover an abandoned hole that looks to have been a bomb shelter in the past, they decide to host a private party, just for the four of them. Two girls, two guys, partying, alone, in a hole for three straight days. What could be better, they think. But when they accidentally get locked in the hole for sixteen days, their party suddenly turns into a horror story as they struggle to survive without enough food or water, and quickly learn that they might not come out of their adventure alive.

Nick Hamm è stato per parecchi anni uno dei registi di maggior successo della Royal Shakespeare Company prima di passare alla televisione e poi al cinema, con la commedia romantica del 1997 Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence.
La sua carriera televisiva include tre pellicole molto applaudite dalla critica della serie Rik Mayall Presents - Dancing Queen, Micky Love e Briefest Encounter - e Out Of The Blue, realizzato per la BBC, con Catherine Zeta Jones e Colin Firth. Nel 1992 ha vinto il premio BAFTA per il miglior cortometraggio con Harmfulness Of Tobacco, basato su una breve storia di Chekhov.

Nick Hamm was one of the Royal Shakespeare Company's most successful directors for several years before he moved over to television and then feature films, with his 1997 romantic comedy Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence.
His television career includes three critically-acclaimed feature-length television films in the Rik Mayall Presents series - Dancing Queen, Micky Love and Briefest Encounter - as well as the BBC Play on One, Out Of The Blue starring Catherine Zeta Jones and Colin Firth. He also won the BAFTA Award for Best Short Film in 1992 for his drama Harmfulness Of Tobacco, based on a Chekhov short story.
