Jennifer Jason Leigh was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1962. She has studied acting at the Teenage Drama Workshop, the Lee Strasberg Theatre, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and with a number of private acting instructors. She hit her stride professionally and artistically in the second half of the nineties with a series of acclaimed arthouse pictures (Short Cuts, Mister Hula Hoop, Mrs Parker and the Vicious Circle, Washington Square, Georgia, eXistenZ). She recently made her Broadway stage debut in Cabaret, playing the role of Sally Bowles.
