Chaos breaks out when a meteor hits the Earth carrying alien life forms that give new meaning top the term “survival of the fittest”. Three persons investigate the case. Dr Ira Kaneis, an ex government scientist, is the first to discover the meteor’s alien stowaways and the first to understand the significance of their rapid development. Harry Block, a geology professor at the college who doubles as the women’s volleyball coach. Wayne, a hapless fireman wannabe, who comes close to be pulverized by the meteor when it crashes into the Arizona desert. The guys might have preferred to save the world on their own, but it is impossible to keep a discovery of this magnitude under wraps, and isn’t long before the government swoops in to take over. Leading the way is Allison, a beautiful but all-business epidemiologist from the CDC. Allison has little respect for Ira when she first learns of his checkered scientific past, but she soon figures out that they won’t have a very long future if they don’t join forces.

Ivan Reitman
Reitman was born in Czechoslovakia and fled with his family to Canada at the age of four. He attended Canada's McMaster University, where he produced and directed several television shorts. He followed with a live television show, Greed, with Dan Aykroyd as its announcer. He continued producing for the stage with the Off-Broadway hit The National Lampoon Show, and returned to Broadway to produce and direct the musical Merlin, earning a Tony nomination for directing.
As a producer and director, Reitman has created many of American cinema's most successful and best loved feature film comedies and has worked with Hollywood's acting elite. Reitman has produced such hits as the ground-breaking sensation National Lampoon's Animal House, which introduced John Belushi to American filmgoers, and the family features Beethoven and Beethoven's 2nd. His directing credits include Meatballs, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Dave and Junior. With Twins, Reitman created an entirely new comedic personal for action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger.. In 1979 and again in 1989, for the films Animal House and Twins, Reitman was honored with the People's Choice Award.
